Thanks for your support. It's been a long journey from that first hot Texas day in June, a Saturday the 27th 2009, when I first put pen to paper. From there I sent in my final files to Markosia from here in Minnesota in April 2018. Wow, talk about being hard headed! I never gave up on it. I HAD to tell this story. I hope you will join me. Almost a decade and 8 States later...<br />

<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">This is gonna sound cheesy, but dreams do come true. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">As a child, I dreamt of Transformers that actually met or even exceeded my expectation. I wanted toys that would capture the true feats of engineering behind the Transformers I loved. I used to watch the cars out of the window of the back seat on the road trips to see my Grandmother in San Francisco. A red mini-van! A yellow VW bug! A red semi-truck! A silver 280Z! Once, I even saw a red Lamborghini Countach! I used to imagine those cars transforming into giant robots before my eyes. I swear I could see it In my head using my imagination. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Let’s face it, the original G1 transformer toys were really cool. But the screen accuracy compared to the cartoon left a little something to be desired. You got lucky if you had more than two points of articulation. They were fun because they were three toys in one: a puzzle, a car (or some other inanimate object) and a robot. All of that wrapped up together with the storyline from the cartoon and -bam!- an entire generation of kids were hooked. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Today, collectors and enthusiasts are lucky. The amount of detail, screen accuracy, articulation, and complexity of modern masterpiece Transformers is astounding. It channels that imaginative child in all of us that dreamed of more complex Transformers like these. The engineering of these Transformers by Fans Toys is mind blowing. Fans Toys have, once again, hit a grand slam out of the park!</span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">It’s no secret that I am a big fan of the Dinobots. Fans Toys have delivered five amazing specimens here that are a perfect blend of G1 aesthetic with logical engineering. Both modes are perfect representations of the cartoon characters and the original toys that inspired them. They are, all five, true masterpieces in every sense of the word. Fully articulated in both modes they tower over their teammates. They are everything I imagined they would be when I was little. I dreamed of these, and now they are a reality. </span></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<br /></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">I can’t see any other company coming close to such a feat, not even,Takara. I have seen other attempts by some companies, but they always have fallen short of the Masterpiece feel that Fans Toys just nails every time. With every figure I review, they cement their legacy as the premier third party company in the game. Dare I say, even more so than Takara itself? </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">The last two releases Grinder and Stomp are perfect figures fully earning their place in the Dinobots lineup. Grinder is in every way an improvement on Takara’s MP8. In some ways, less really is more. Gone is the weird gimmick of the tail moving the head in dino mode. Gone is the faction symbol revealed in robot mode. Gone is the built in electronics that don’t even allow MP8 to hold a gun or sword with an actual handle. All those things drove me nuts about that figure, and I ended up selling it a couple years back. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">It's just a straightforward toy inspired transformation that is easily repeatable and endlessly enjoyable. There are also some additional options and some fixes for the other members of the crew. Soar and Scoria come with new face sculpts. While Sever comes with a new head. The best fix is die cast knee parts for Soar. I really appreciated this upgrade because I broke one of Soar’s gold knee panels the second time I transformed him. I forgot to untab one, and it snapped right off. Die cast is a nice improvement and makes more sense than the original fragile plastic tabs. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">
<span style="color: red;"><span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: "arial"; font-size: 11pt; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; text-decoration: none; vertical-align: baseline;">Articulation is off the charts, and you can get Grinder to strike any pose your heart desires. He has fully articulated hands, so he can hold his weapons properly. Stomp shares the same amount of posability, and there were no “fixes” included for these two. They have come from the factory perfect, and the design is excellent. All you need to do is apply the proper faction symbol; they look like they stepped off the screen and passed through the filter of your minds eye to take physical form in front of your face. </span></span></div>
<div dir="ltr" style="line-height: 1.38; margin-bottom: 0pt; margin-top: 0pt;">

I prefer this look, so I went with it. Light up guns, swords, and red eye color swaps round out the accessories. All of those swaps are standard with Fans Toys Dinobots. Die cast used in the proper places, including the feet, give them both stability and a solid construction. </span></span></div>
<span style="color: red;"><br /></span>

You’ll probably set them out and watch those first two Dinobot episodes again. Not that I did that or anything…</span></span></div>

Fans Toys has done a great job again. They've made another
perfect Masterpiece style Dinobot<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>with
Sever. Make no mistake, Sever is the best version of a Masterpiece Snarl you
will find. He comes with his sword and his gun, both based off his G1 model,
just like Swoop. These weapons light up, and you can install batteries in these
to get the full effect! This would be perfect for display! Eventually, I plan
on making a cool diorama and mounting it to the wall to give all my MPs the
display case they deserve. </div>

Sever's transformation is more complicated than Soar's.
There are a couple moments when his back and his legs get blown apart and have
to be reformed during his transformation. It is not as much transforming as it
is parts shifting. It was a bit annoying to take it apart and put it back
together. This reminded me of some of Badcube's Mp efforts. There is an
unfolding and then recombining of parts in order to get his legs and tail out.
It's not too bad, but it is a little unsettling when you have his legs all
folded out. It would be easy in the moment to break a piece off. However, it
does come back together nicely after the initial anxious moments. It feels
sturdy once it is recombined.</div>

There are quite a bit of moving parts. It is really something though when he is

Fans Toys has done something wonderful with their Iron Dbots
Line. FT Soar is truly a Masterpiece Transformer. The transformation is easy
and very similar to the original G1 figure. One big difference I noticed
immediately was that FT Soar's chest color is blue like the original cartoon
and not red like the G1 toy. There is a version with the red chest for those
who would like it, but I prefer the blue. Like most collectors, I prefer that
my Mp's reflect the cartoon, are detailed, and have that Cybertonian tech vibe.

OK, So I just finished penciling the last page of Androsaurs issue four. Its a surreal moment for me as I started penciling issue One Way back at the end of 2009! So 7 years, 7 states, a wife, and 2 kids later the first story arch is done. Now I still have to ink, and letter issues 3 and 4, but still it's been a minute! I was working for Heroic publishing back then and doing my pet project about humanoid Dinosaurs on the side.<br />
<br />
Now thanks to Evil Jester Comics, it looks like this will finally see the light of day! I am excited to show this to you guys. I have been a pest to my publisher, as things keep getting pushed back. That is the draw back of working as an Indie creator, as I wanted to keep my rights.<br />
<br />
So I wanted to share this sketch of things that could be on the horizon as the Sheltron is from my planned third arch. It may never come to pass as we will have to see what happens with the first, but its fun to dream. I think if you ask people who know me, they will tell you that's what I am. I tend to spend a lot of time in my own little world. Why wouldn't I? There are Androsaurs there!<br />

I never was a huge fan of the Insecticons. I had the
original Shrapnel, Bombshell, and Kickback when I was a kid. I just was not as
taken with them as some of my buddies were. All Transformers fans have a
favorite villain. I was a Soundwave kid, my older brother was a Megatron guy,
and my best friend was a Starscream fan. The Insecticons were just bugs smashed
by Hot Rod and Kup on the way to Autobot

However, being the completer I am, I jumped at the chance to
round out my Season One Masterpiece Decepticon collection. Badcube is not the
only 3rd party company making the insect team. But they are the only ones
offering all three in one value pack, which is a good thing for the collector
on a budget. Make no mistake though, by all accounts, they are masterpiece
figures. <span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span></div>

Badcube has opened my mind to the possibility that 3rd party

changing fast. Do your research and you will not be disappointed. Dare I say
that there are 3rd party companies doing some things better than Takara Tomy. Fans

First up: "Claymore" (Shrapnel). His
transformation is nice and easy. I really like how his shoulders compress into
his torso for bug mode. It is a nice Masterpiece moment. It's fun to transform
him, and it's smooth and repeatable. His articulation is great; his head is on
a ball joint and so are the shoulders. He has double jointed elbows and knees
that bend at 90 degrees. Ankle tilts, along with waist, wrist and bicep swivels
round out his possibility. He is my favorite of the trio. He comes with a
blaster that can be stored in either robot or bug mode, a sticky energon cube
and an alternate smirking face. </div>

Next up is "Hypno" (Bombshell). His transformation
is not any more complicated than Shrapnel, but is still highly enjoyable. This figure,
like that of his leader, pays homage to the original toys while at the same
time updating them with proper size and complexity. This epitomizes the very
essence of the masterpiece line. Hypno's articulation is the same as Claymore
with the exception of the shoulders. This figure's shoulders use two different
joints to achieve the same results. This is a necessity for his transformation,
so it doesn't bother me. His blaster is incorporated into his bug mode. He also
comes with a sticky energon cube. However, Hypno's face does not lend itself to
expression, so no alternate face here. </div>

Lastly, "Kickbutt" (Kickback) the grasshopper. I
really like this figure's robot mode. His bug mode is decent, but unfortunately
his transformation is what some refer to as "over-engineered". I
don't like that term, but it basically means it's overly complex. The designer
could have solved the problem of transformation with simpler solutions. The
second time I transformed him it was a little smoother, because I found a
couple ways to simplify it. I also discovered his legs compress at the thigh,
and his thorax clipped into his crotch to help make his bug mode more sturdy. His
transformation being so finicky makes him my least favorite of the three. This
is a shame because his articulation being as good as his brothers' really makes
him a cool robot. He also comes with an energon cube and alternate smirk face.
His gun is stored between his legs in bug mode, which is hilarious. </div>

So, with all the 3rd party options out there why would I
choose FT-11 Spotter? For starters, I needed a Reflector to fill out my
collection. Personally I just collect Season One of the G1 Cartoon Masterpiece
Transformers. At one time I owned all the MPs 1 through 9, but when MP10 came
out, I sold them. I rebooted my collection with MP10. I have since skipped any
season 2 or 3 figures. It's been hard, but this keeps my spending under
control. Its a lot easier to buy one or two figures a year. I needed to focus
on one aspect of my collection. My wallet, and my wife demanded it!</div>

I also chose Spotter because I don't think Takara will get
around to an official release, at least not for many years. Fans Toys also has
a good rep as far as 3rd party companies go. The only other 3rd party figure I
own is XTransbots Apollyon. I liked the price and look of him. Now I consider
him my Mp Megatron, so I figured I would give Fans Toys a shot. </div>

First thing I noticed is that Fans Toys do not use the same
quality plastic that Takara uses. It's a recycle 3, as apposed to 5 plastic.
Not a big deal as long as you are not planning on burning him in an open flame.
Still, it does feel a tad more flimsy. Another thing that bugs me about this
figure is the use of Styrofoam in the packaging. I know that the old 80's toys
came in Styrofoam, but this is a nod to the old toys that I wish that Fans Toys
would not do. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
The engineering is top notch though, as Spotter's transformation
is fun and easily repeatable once memorized. There are a couple points were you
must do the steps in the right order, but that is true of any Transformer, 3rd
party or otherwise. The only part that is fiddly is the side characters back
packs. You will need a small screw driver to get it right, but over all I would
rate it about an 8 as far as fun and complication. The joints are all tight and
he is built to last. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
These figures really shine in regards to the figures
articulation. All three figures have heads on a ball joint, a waist swivel,
double jointed elbow and knee joints. They also have bicep swivels, ankle tilts
and standard MP hands. Spotter also sports good shoulder joints and hip skirts
to allow the hips to move on their ball joints. This allows Reflector to easily
be placed in cool action poses. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
He looks screen accurate and blends in perfectly with the
Masterpiece aesthetic. I applied some Decepticon decals to their left shoulders
and it looks like reflector walked straight out of the cartoon to stand with
his fellow bots. This is a joy for any child of the 80's to behold. It brings a
huge smile to my face, as well as a sense of completion. My original
Nemesis/Ark Decepticon crew is complete! </div>

The accessories he comes with are really a nice touch. At
first I thought the lens and flash breaking up into weapons would not be interesting
to me. This was not the case! Iit is really nice to have a use for these
attachments. Basically the lens breaks down into three parts that combine with
parts from the flash to make three large blasters that the group can hold. The
rest of the flash becomes knives and sheaths that can attach to the legs of the
two side characters. Even though it is not show accurate, as Reflector never
used such weapons, it is a blast! They add just that much more oomph to the
figure's appeal. He also comes with three small blaster weapons that are
identical. I will admit to having trouble getting him to hold them as the fit
is extremely tight! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
<br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal">
Another accessory for Spotter are two separate face sculpts
per figure. I don't really care for these. It breaks down like this: a regular
stoic face, a "Starscream" smirk, and a goofy "say
Cheese!!" smile that will crack you up! I opted to just install the stoic
faces on the two figures that had the other options installed from the box. Basically,
you undo the small black screw in the back of one of the figure's head and swap
out the face. However, the best accessory that Spotter comes with is the small
replica of himself in camera mode that other Mp's can hold!<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>I love this! It makes me wish for a small
Soundwave in tape deck mode to go along with Megatron in gun mode. He also
comes with three small energon cubes which are a nice little touch. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal">
Overall, I would give FT11 Spotter a 8.5 out of 10. The
biggest cons are the slightly sub par plastic, and some fiddly bits on him. The
main pros are show accuracy and scale with other MPs. Also, the transformation
is fun and easy to do over and over. This makes the figure a nice addition to
your masterpiece collection along with the accessories. I recommend picking him
up as the price point is fair, especially when you take into account that you
get three figures to round out your Decepticon ranks. This is a great purchase!
